Changes (With GIFs)

Just some noticeable changes in my life since I study abroad. 9mo and still counting! :3

1. Papers and Administrations. My parents used to take care of them. Now I have to handle it all alone.

This is the scariest. But sometimes it's fun in a challenging way.

2. I can cook and make my own meals

Pressured by the circumstance, I finally learn how to cook. It all rained down on me when I was still in Frankfurt and my roommates were all gone so there was nothing to eat and I almost starved myself if I hadn't found instant noodle inside the cabinet. From that day, I have been learning to cook all by myself.

3. I sleep alone

From childhood, I am used to share a room with my sibling. But now I always get a room all for myself. At first I was afraid to sleep alone. But now I think it's better this way :D

4. I ship real life people

This is so dumb but I have no choice. There are just so many awesome people around me now who would make a very cute couple! Lolbye

5. I feel lonely constantly

I think I don't have the need to explain it. But I believe this will change with time and some efforts.

6. I feel more Asian

This is true. I still can't live without rice, noodles, and their friends. I go to the asian market like.. once in a two weeks to buy soya sauce, chili sauce, ramens, and things like that. It's nice, though... until...

"You know why I like you? Well it's because you're an asian" - said a Douchebag
"We HAVE to pass this test, okay. We're ASIANS." - a fellow Asian friend
"Where do you come from... It's... Thailand isn't it?" - a friend
"Oh... I thought you're from Vietnam..." - another friend
"kayo nanggaling ang Pilipinas??" - a random man at the main station who suddenly speaks Tagalog to me. I had to google translate it
"You.. You're Hiroi, right?" - the mailman who thinks that I am my japanese neighbour.
"KONNICHIWAAAAAA" - a random group of people who think Asia consists only of Japan.

7. I get annoyed and jealous more easily. But also more patient with handling the situation instead of exploding in anger.

Yes.

8. Hugs

I like the way we greet our friends here. We hug each other! In Indonesia it's just a high five or a bro fist.

9. Always searching for new friends and acquaintances

This is my only key to survive. Sure, I'm still socially awkward but I'm easier around new people now.

10. Trilingual

I speak Indonesian to fellow Indonesian or Malaysian
I speak English to the tourists
I speak German to my friends and 99 percent of the people I meet

Sometimes, it's so confusing.
